Hi and welcome back! I’m thrilled to share my DIY Woven Wreath Tutorial with you. This cozy wreath is a perfect year-round minimalist door hanger and a great housewarming gift. It’s quick and easy to make!
Each wreath features a wire form hand-woven with wool yarn. Don’t let ‘hand-woven’ intimidate you—it’s actually quite simple! I’ve included step-by-step photos and a video tutorial below. The wreath is adorned with your choice of greenery and hung with jute. Feel free to customize the wreath form size, yarn color, and greenery for added variation!”
Materials :
- Jute
- 12″ Wire Wreath Form
- Scissors
- Jumbo Weight (7) Bulky Wool Yarn
- Eucalyptus Greenery
Jute Hanger:
Start by creating a jute hanger and attaching it to the wreath form.
To do this, wrap a piece of jute around one of the vertical posts on the wreath form and tie it in a knot. When weaving the wool onto the wreath, make sure to keep the knot at the bottom so that it can be covered.
Weaving:
The jumbo wool yarn naturally splits into halves, so we’ll work with sections that are 1/2 of the yarn.
Cut the yarn into manageable sections and start weaving it vertically around the wreath, going over and under. For better results, pull the yarn all the way through each pass before moving to the next one.
When you reach the end of a section, split the yarn in half and tie a double knot on the back, wrapping one end around a wire. Alternatively, you can leave the tails long enough to tie them together and trim any excess (I used this method, ensuring each knot ended in the center on the back).
When you reach the vertical posts, alternate between front and back as you weave over and under with the yarn to ensure the posts are completely covered.
