Hello there!
How’s your week been? Today, I’ve got an exciting tutorial for all you Fall and Autumn enthusiasts.
We’ll be diving into the art of crocheting pumpkins!”
These pumpkins are very easy and quick to crochet. You don’t need a lot of yarn, and you can customize the size and stitch to your preference.
As shown in the picture above, I added a cinnamon stick to my pumpkin. Not only does it look cute, but it also smells amazing!
In this tutorial, I’ll show you how to crochet two different pumpkins: one using super bulky weight yarn and another with bulky weight yarn. Feel free to choose any yarn you like, but I recommend using no thinner than worsted weight.
Keep in mind that these pumpkins are similar to crocheting amigurumi, so you’ll need to use a smaller crochet hook than what the yarn label suggests. This ensures that your stitches are tight and that the stuffing won’t be visible.
Stitches you should know:
- Chain
- Slip Stitch
- Single Crochet
- Half double crochet
Materials:
- A size 8 mm and 6.5 mm crochet hook
- Yarn: Super bulky and bulky weight (or worsted if you prefer)
- Poly-Fil
- Scissors
- Tapestry Needle
- Cinnamon stick (optional)
-
Pumpkin no. 2 (Bulky weight yarn)
- Start by chaining 14 + 1
- Row 1: HDC in the second chain from the hook, HDC all the way across (14)
- Row 2: HDC BLO in the first space available, repeat all the way across (14)
- Repeat row no. 2 until your rectangle measures 9.5″/24 cm
Join both ends of the pumpkin using your preferred method; I use a slip stitch for this.
Next, close one end of the pumpkin, secure it, and weave in the ends.
Stuff the pumpkin with poly-fil and close the other end as well.
For this pumpkin, you don’t need to leave a gap for a cinnamon stick. Simply close it completely and thread your needle up and down through the center.
And that’s it! That’s how you make the pumpkins.
I hope you enjoyed it!
